Rapp 4th Fastest In Formula Xtreme At Fontana
Copyright 2003, Team Hammer, Inc.Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki's Steve Rapp qualified his 2003 Suzuki GSX-R1000 4th-fastest for Sunday's Formula Xtreme race at California Speedway in Fontana, California.The new bike had never been on a racetrack before practice started on Thursday.Rapp was 2nd fastest early in the session but ended qualifying with a fastest lap of 1:27.09 to fill out the front row.His teammate, Chris Ulrich, is still feeling the effects of breaking a rib at Daytona three weeks ago and qualified 15th at 1:30.502 on his 2002 Suzuki GSX-R1000.The race will be held Sunday afternoon.

Ulrich's Tough Superstock Race At Fontana: 37th To 19th After Being Rammed Off The Track On Lap One
Copyright 2003, Team Hammer, Inc.Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki's Chris Ulrich had a tough time in the AMA Superstock race at Fontana Saturday afternoon.He was rammed by another rider in the third turn on the first lap, barely escaped crashing, and ran way, way off the track.

Five Talent Search Riders Enjoy Three Days At Fontana
Copyright 2003, Team Hammer, Inc.Five participants in the Team Hammer Talent Search Presented by Alpinestars--first-year Expert Ivan Garza, second-year Expert Paolo Mariano, Jack Pfeifer, Chris Siglin and first-year Expert Matthew Wise--gathered at California Speedway Friday, March 28 for the second of three Talent Search set-up and riding days, followed by two days of practice in conjunction with a Fastrack Riders weekend.The Talent Search team working with the five included 1991 AMA Superbike Champion Thomas Stevens, Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki rider Chris Ulrich, Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki mechanic Ken Hill and racer Vincent Haskovec.I had a blast, said Siglin.

Ulrich Diagnosed With Broken Rib
Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki's Chris Ulrich was diagnosed with a broken rib, more than a week after he raced at Daytona.Ulrich crashed during Superstock qualifying on Thursday, March 6 at Daytona, and slid into haybales in the chicane.

Nine Riders In Team Hammer Talent Search Presented By Alpinestars
A total of nine riders have signed up for the 2003 Team Hammer Talent Search Presented by Alpinestars.The final four riders accepted into the program include first-year Expert Ivan Garza, 26, of El Paso, Texas; second-year Expert Paolo Mariano, 22, of Canyon Country, California; second-year Expert Darren Luck, 28, of Bonita Springs, Florida; and Jack Pfeifer, 35, of Las Vegas, Nevada.They join previous program signees Matt Elliott, 17, a first-year Expert from Blountville, Tennessee; Greg Moore, 25, a first-year Expert from Brookwood, Alabama; John Ross, 39, of San Antonio, Texas; Chris Siglin, 22, of Clayton, California; and Mathew Wise, 24, of McKinney, Texas.Two program finalists will be seeded into the GSX-R750 heat races and will enjoy full rides at the 2003 Suzuki Cup Finals, including the use of a Valvoline EMGO Suzuki GSX-R750 tended by a team mechanic, Michelin tires, entry fees and a complete set of Alpinestars leathers, boots and gloves in team colors.

Matt Furtek, 18, of South Holland, Illinois has signed a contract with Team Hammer, Inc. to ride a Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki GSX-R750 in the 2003 AMA Superstock Series.

With only a few days left before the sign-up deadline, participants in the Team Hammer Talent Search Presented by Alpinestars range in age from 17 to 39.The oldest participant was also the first to sign up, being John Ross, 39, of San Antonio, Texas.

John Ross of San Antonio, Texas is the first racer to sign up for the Team Hammer Talent Search Presented By Alpinestars.Ross started racing in 1987 and co-rode to the 2002 CMRA Overall Endurance Championship, with a finances-dictated break from racing in 1991-1997."Ive been watching Team Hammer win races for years," said Ross when asked what motivated him to sign up for the Talent Search program.
