Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki's Chris Ulrich won the AMA Superstock race at Mid-Ohio Saturday, coming from fourth into turn one to take the lead on lap 7 of 16 on the 2.4-mile course and pulling away to win by a 2.869 margin of victory.

Ulrich turned the fastest lap of the race, a 1:31.6569, and led the most laps, 9 of 16, on his Suzuki GSX-R750. Once he took the lead, Ulrich was not repassed.

An ecstatic Ulrich took an extra-long cool-off lap, waving to the crowd, then pulled up to the starter stand, took the checkered flag and went on a victory lap as a TV crew waited in the winner's circle.

The event marked Ulrich's second AMA Superstock win--he won at Laguna Seca last year--and his first podium of the 2002 season, which has been marred by problems with a shoulder injury.

Ulrich won on Michelin tires.
