Since 2001, Team Hammer has offered racetrack rides on a 2-seat Superbike to help television, radio and print reporters understand the sport of motorcycle road racing. The resulting publicity also helps promote specific racing events.
Media rides are usually scheduled on the Wednesday or Thursday proceeding a MotoAmerica event weekend. Since its inception, Team Hammer’s 2-seat program has a 100% safety record.
On the weekend following each Thanksgiving since 2005, Chris Ulrich and Team Hammer have partnered with Fastrack Riders and Roadracingworld.com to offer 2-Seat Superbike rides to members of the general public. In exchange for a cash donation, Ulrich takes donors for a couple of fast laps around Auto Club Speedway’s 2.3-mile, 21-turn infield road course on an M4 Superbike.
Since its inception in 2005, this annual fund-raising event has delivered hundreds of 2-seat rides with a 100% safety record. As seen in the accompanying photos, in 2013 alone Ulrich delivered 89 different rides around the Auto Club Speedway course at speed, completing 194 laps (445.3 miles) with a passenger.
All proceeds benefit the Roadracing World Action Fund, a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization which advocates and promotes the use of soft barriers to help prevent rider injuries at racetracks.
