Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki teammates Grant Lopez, John Hopkins and Ben Spies earned a total of $175,000 in purse and points fund money in the 2000 Formula USA Unlimited Superbike class. That total does not include contingency awards and bonuses and does not include money Hopkins and Spies earned in the 600cc Sport Bike class.
Lopez won $90,625 while Hopkins won $70,500 and Spies won $13,875.
Which leads one to wonder what a bank teller thinks when 17-year-old John Hopkins walks in to deposit $35,000 in checks at a time!
