Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki’s Grant Lopez ended three days of testing at Road Atlanta with a fastest lap at 1:25.42 Thursday morning and the highest top speed speed of the tests at 171 mph.
During three days of testing, Lopez tried dozens of combinations and parts, including several front ends, two transmissions and two completely different engine set-ups, one built for top speed and the other for torque.
Lopez and the team now head for Willow Springs Raceway and the April 19-22 Formula USA Nationals. Lopez, the defending Formula USA Unlimited Superbike Champion, is also the current points leader. His teammate, John Hopkins, missed the Road Atlanta tests due to injuries suffered at Daytona but expects to be back in the Sport Bike class at Willow Springs. And their teammate Ben Spies will compete in both the Unlimited Superbike and Sport Bike classes at Willow Springs.
