Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki’s Marty Craggill finished a close 4th in the AMA Formula Xtreme race at Road Atlanta in a day marred by crashes, oil and water on the track and multiple red-flags and restarts.

Craggill, who had qualified 7th fastest at 1:26.156 in his first visit to Road Atlanta, shot into second at the final Formula Xtreme restart and ended up battling hard for third, coming up just short at the finish line.

Teammate Tom Kipp went into the final restart several laps down–his bike’s clutch had failed on the second restart. Kipp crossed the finish line 7th but was credited with 24th place and is currently 8th in series points. Craggill, who joined the team at Sears Point as a substitute for injured Josh Hayes, is 7th in series points after 3 of 9 races.

Kipp qualified 6th fastest for the Supersport race and finished 7th, and is 7th in series points after 4 of 10 races.

The team is currently stepping up the horsepower produced by its GSX-R1000 Formula Xtreme bikes and will debut new-specification engines in practice at Road America June 6.
