Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich was diagnosed with a broken rib, more than a week after he raced at Daytona.
Ulrich crashed during Superstock qualifying on Thursday, March 6 at Daytona, and slid into haybales in the chicane. Although he had the breath knocked out of him, Ulrich was released from the Daytona International Speedway Care Center after being examined and diagnosed with a sprained ankle.
Ulrich went back to the Care Center on Friday, March 7 complaining of pain in the right kidney area. X-rays did not reveal any injuries, and Ulrich was again released. He raced in the rain-delayed Superstock event at Daytona on March 10.
The pain in his kidney area did not relent, however, and persisted for more than a week after the Daytona race.
On March 19 Ulrich was examined and X-rayed at a sports medicine clinic in Temecula, California and was diagnosed as having a non-displaced fracture of one rib.
