Veteran racer Kurtis Roberts will test for Team M4 EMGO Suzuki at Barber Motorsports Park on Monday and Tuesday. Roberts will ride a Formula Xtreme Suzuki GSX-R600, as the team’s regular entrant in the class, Michael Barnes, is not fully recovered from a knee injury sustained in a Daytona crash.
Roberts, a two-time Formula Xtreme champion and the 2000 AMA Supersport champion, has also won two AMA Superbike races in his career. The Turlock, California, native raced in MotoGP in 2004. He is the son of racing legend Kenny Roberts.
“Kurtis has been a fierce rival of ours for a lot of years,” said Crew Chief Keith Perry. “He’s a very talented rider. Since ‘Barney’ is still injured, we asked if he’d like to test with us. Here at Birmingham, he’ll ride our FX bike and see what he thinks of it, the team, and the tires. He’s a very experienced rider from his years on Superbikes and in MotoGP and any time you get to work with someone like that, it’s a good thing.”
