Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki riders Grant Lopez and Josh Hayes swept three of four WERA National Challenge Series races they entered at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway in Talladega, Alabama April 5.
Lopez ran away with the Formula One race win, running laps within 0.5-second of the lap record aboard his 750cc GSXR750 Formula USA racebike and finishing 13.52 seconds ahead of second place. Lopez also won the 750cc Superstock race, edging teammate Hayes by 2.0 seconds in the only race of the day both entered. Lopez and Hayes rode 1998 GSXR750 Suzukis.
Hayes jumped out in front of the 1100cc Superstock race on his 1997 GSXR1100 Suzuki and led every lap, crossing the finish line 3.52 seconds ahead. In 600cc Superstock, Hayes finished second on his 1997 GSXR600
