Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich, 22, of Lake Elsinore, California, underwent surgery Tuesday evening in Fremont, California.

Orthopedic Surgeon Arthur Ting reconstructed Ulrich’s right shoulder, which was initially injured last January and which degenerated during the 2002 AMA road racing season.

Ulrich was awake and in the recovery room at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, following an operation that started at 5:30 p.m. at the Fremont Surgery Center.

Despite the injury, Ulrich won the AMA Superstock National race at Mid-Ohio in July, riding a Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki GSX-R750.
