It was a character-building day for Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki on Saturday at Road America, with Tom Kipp encountering mechanical problems and failing to finish the Formula Xtreme race and Marty Craggill struggling to 6th on a spare bike after his primary racebike blew up in practice. The difference in horsepower between Craggill’s primary and spare racebikes was about 40 bhp, which translated into about 10 mph.

Chris Ulrich, who had qualified on pole for the Superstock race, hit a false neutral and ran off the track on the second lap of the race and had to fight back from deep in the pack, ran off the track another three or four times and eventually finished 16th.

Ulrich qualified 11th for tomorrow’s Superbike race and Kipp qualified 10th for tomorrow’s Supersport race.
