Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich was a close second in AMA Superstock qualifying At Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, hanging on to the fastest time until the closing moments of the second qualifying session.
Ulrich set his time in the first qualifying session, for even-numbered bikes, turning a lap at 1:31.198 for an average speed of 94.739 mph.
The time wasn’t bettered until late in the second session, for odd-numbered bikes, when another rider turned a 1:31.076.
“Being on the front row is good,” said Ulrich, who turned his time on a Suzuki GSX-R750 with race set-up and Michelin race tires.
The AMA Superstock race will be held Saturday afternoon at Mid-Ohio.
