Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich won the AMA Superstock race at Mid-Ohio Saturday, coming from fourth into turn one to take the lead on lap 7 of 16 on the 2.4-mile course and pulling away to win by a 2.869 margin of victory.

Ulrich turned the fastest lap of the race, a 1:31.6569, and led the most laps, 9 of 16, on his Suzuki GSX-R750. Once he took the lead, Ulrich was not repassed.

An ecstatic Ulrich took an extra-long cool-off lap, waving to the crowd, then pulled up to the starter stand, took the checkered flag and went on a victory lap as a TV crew waited in the winner’s circle.

The event marked Ulrich’s second AMA Superstock win–he won at Laguna Seca last year–and his first podium of the 2002 season, which has been marred by problems with a shoulder injury.

Ulrich won on Michelin tires.
